Iden.tt Privacy Policy
We at Youtility Software Inc. (Youtility), the owner/operator of Iden.tt, value the privacy and security of the information that you share with us through our website or other methods. We recognize the importance and stake our reputation on it. The amount, type, and use of information we collect depends on how you use our offerings. It is important that you understand how we collect, use, and maintain your information.
Short form for those who don't like to read privacy policies
We will never share your personal information without your explicit consent, except when required by law. We will never send you spam. We will use industry best practices to protect and secure your personal information. We will never change our position on these fundamental privacy principles.
Information collection and use
You are the owner of your personal information and can extend the value
of that information with the services supplied through our website and
our other offerings. Through your participation in our services and
offerings you are delivering to us information that, when collected
on this site or other means, will be protected and enhanced to provide
value added services. Whereas you decide the method of information delivery,
we are a de facto owner of the information collected on this site. We
will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different
from what is disclosed in this statement. This website does not collect
personally identifying information about you except when you specifically
and knowingly provide it or request its provision through any one of
our partners.
Bottom line: Your information is not for sale, for any price.
Personal information
We may use and disclose personal information as described in this document. We may directly collect personal information from you, but only if you provide it to us voluntarily. We may collect personal information that you provide to our identity agents, which they pass on to us so that we can fulfill our service commitment to you. In some instances you must provide personal information in the form of a unique identifier or multiple identifiers for us to sufficently determine the appropriate level of trust for accessing or participating in this website or other associated links.
We will obtain your consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of that
information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent
to our collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information as
described in this Privacy Policy, then do not share personal information
with us. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to reasonable
notice and legal or contractual obligations. To withdraw your consent,
simply tell us of the personal information that you no longer wish us
to collect, use, or disclose. However, we are unable to offer some services
that require high levels of authentication, like processing purchases,
without certain personal information.
Bottom line: To do our best magic, we need the ingredients.
Non-identifying personal information
During your use of our website, we will collect certain non-identifying personal
information to enhance the functionality of the website and to make
your access more convenient and efficient. As example, we use IP addresses
to analyze trends, administer the site, monitor website performance,
improve site design and functionality, and gather broad demographic
information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally
identifiable information.
Bottom line: Doing this provides for better service.
Cookies
To personalize your experience on our website and to enhance security
within secure portions of our website we may assign your computer browser
a unique random alpha-numeric string called a 'cookie'. Among other
uses, cookies allow us to deliver content specific to your interests,
to save you from re-entering your registration data at each connection,
and to provide features such as online customer payment and shopping
carts. Certain of these cookies are used to identify a visit or session.
Once you close your browser, these cookies simply terminate. No personally
identifiable or unencrypted information will be in cookies that are
stored on your computer.
Bottom line: Not everybody does, but we make good cookies.
Correcting or updating information
If a user's information changes, or if a user no longer desires our
service, we will endeavor to provide a convenient way to correct, update
or remove that user's personal data provided to us. This can be done
on our Account administration pages or by contacting our customer
support.
Bottom line:Current information helps us help you.
Retention and access
With your assistance we will take necessary steps to keep your personal
information accurate, complete, current, and relevant to its intended
use. We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for
the reasons it was collected. When your personal information is no longer
required for our purposes or for regulatory needs, we have procedures
to destroy, delete, or erase it or to convert it to an anonymous form.
Bottom line: Information is as important as its relevancy.
Sharing
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners.
This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any
individual person that was not originally given by the partner or is
expressly permitted by yourself. We will partner with other parties
to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services,
we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary
for the third party to provide these services and only with the
explicit permission of our users.
These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information
except for the purpose of providing these services.
Bottom line: We want to expand our user base, provide for more members
and provide more value. One great way to do it is brag about our user base.
Also, it helps sometimes to tell merchants where to send your order.
Links
This website contains links to other sites which are not under the control
of or maintained by us. These links do not constitute an endorsement
of those websites or their content by us. Please be aware that we are
not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. Your
use of those other linked sites is subject to the respective terms of
use and privacy policies of the linked sites. We encourage our users
to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements
of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information.
This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this
website.
Bottom line: When you click on a link on this website that takes
you to a website operated by another company, you will be subject to that website's
privacy policies.
Surveys & contests
From time-to-time our site may request information from users via surveys
or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely
voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose
this information. Information will be used to notify the winners and
award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring
or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.
Bottom line: If you want to win something, we gotta know who to award.
Website security
We take every precaution to protect our users' information. We
combine technical and physical safeguards with employee policies and
procedures to protect your information. When
users submit sensitive information via our sites, your information is
protected both online and offline. When our registration/order form
asks users to enter sensitive information, that information is encrypted
and is protected during transmission using the SSL/TLS (Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security) protocols.
While on a secure page the lock icon on certain web browsers becomes
locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open. While we use SSL/TLS encryption
to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our
power to protect user-information offline. All of our users' information,
not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted and
siloed to ensure access is only for specific needs. Only employees who
need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing
clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally
identifiable information. The servers on which we store personally identifiable
information are secured using industry best practices.
Bottom line: Security is our middle name.
Choice/opt-out
Our users are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having their information
used for purposes not directly related to mandatory upgrades to our
site or service. This will generally happen at the point where we ask
for the information. For example, a partner order form may have an 'opt-out'
mechanism so users who buy a product from them, but don't want any marketing
material, can remain off any list that they may want to send valuable
offers or promotions to. Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter
or promotional materials from our partners may opt-out of receiving
these communications by replying to unsubscribe in the subject line
or other location in the message.
Bottom line: We are a spam-free zone so you can choose what is of value
and what isn't and keep yourself as free as you like.
Site and service updates
We send the user site and service announcement updates via the Account Home page when logged in to your account. Users are not able to un-subscribe from service announcements,
which contain important information about the service, updates, etc.
Bottom line: We need to protect you and will update our services as technology
advances.
Protection of Youtility and others
There are limited situations in which applicable laws require or allow us to collect, use, or disclose Personal Information without your consent or after you withdraw your consent. When we are required or permitted to disclose information without consent, we will not disclose more information than is necessary to fulfill the disclosure purpose.
These situations include:
- If we are required by law or by an order or requirement of a court, administrative agency, or other government entity, or by court rules concerning the production of records;
- If we have reasonable grounds to believe that use or disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, privacy, property, or safety of our users or others;
- If we have reasonable grounds to believe that the information relates to a breach of agreement or violation of the law that has been, is being, or is about to be committed;
- If it is necessary for fraud protection, risk reduction, or the establishment or collection of funds owed to us;
- If it is necessary to enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements, to pursue remedies, or to limit damages to Youtility;
- If the information is public;
- For other reasons allowed or required by law.
Bottom line: Trust is a valuable resource and we won't let bad guys compromise it.
Notification of changes
Youtility reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time but will
never change our general opinion of 'do no evil'. If we
decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our
website under this link that is found on every non-single use or member
area page so our users are always aware of what information we collect,
how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. In addition,
notification will be sent to users' Account Home page. If at any
point we wish to add additional services or features that require us
to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from
that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way
of the Account Home page. Users will have a choice as to whether or not
we use their information in this different manner. We will use information
in accordance with the Privacy Policy under which the information was
collected.
Bottom line: One face, not two.
If you feel that we are not abiding by our posted privacy policy, please contact us. We at Youtility recognize the importance of protecting your privacy.
